Ian C. Willis

Cert IV Organic Farming TAFE

B. of Surv. (UQ) 1986

Authorised Mine Surveyor

Since the sale of my previous business in July 2007, which I ran for a little over 17 years I have pursued my new venture joined by Sylva and family this time in a lifelong desire to farm and grow and for the past 15 years to grow clean organic produce. This culminated in the creation of Sylva Lining Organics in 2003 and our certification in 2004 under OGA now under ACO and BFA.

In 2008 we planted our first commercial crop of Russian and Spanish Garlic adding to our existing flock of chooks kept mainly for eggs. We have conducted several open days and TAFE patronised field events. I continue to read and observe constantly gaining knowledge in our new enterprise.  Probably the most influencing book to date is “The one straw revolution”  by Masanobu Fukuoka.

I have been active on the Mt Warning Pre-school committee for over 5 years since 2004 and am also active on the P&C for the Uki School since early 2010. Formerly active on the P&C of Murwillumbah South Infants School .  These have been and are fulfilling local community outlets for my extensive experience in management by meetings.
